Newborn Photography in Pullman A Home Birth Story with The Nest

Yesterday, I had the joy of photographing a brand-new little one — just two weeks old and already so loved.

As a Pullman newborn photographer, I’m always honored to capture these first tender moments of life, when everything still feels fresh, sacred, and full of possibility.

A woman gently holds a newborn baby against a white backdrop, showcasing a tender moment between mother and child.

This sweet boy was welcomed into the world through a home birth with the incredible midwives at The Nest, our local midwife and practice in Pullman, WA. His parents shared how much they loved their experience with The Nest throughout pregnancy. Each appointment felt intentional and never rushed. Instead of a sterile waiting room, they were welcomed onto a cozy couch, cared for with compassion, and given time to feel truly seen and heard.

A midwife is a trusted guide and steady source of reassurance throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. With both expertise and care, she helps make the journey feel safe, supported, and deeply meaningful.

When it came time for their home birth, the midwives carried that same steady presence into their most important day. His parents expressed deep gratitude for the expertise, calmness, and reassurance they felt every step of the way. After birth, the team even took care of everything in their home so the family could simply focus on being together with their new baby boy.

As Basil’s mom shared:

"Being able to hold my sweet baby Basil in my arms feels so right. I feel as though I’ve known his soul forever and his presence here on earth could not make me feel more at peace. He is the missing puzzle piece to our life. Pregnancy and birth were a long journey for us, and I’m beyond grateful for every moment I get to hold him and kiss his perfect little forehead. Gratitude overfills me."

As I photographed him, curled up in that perfect newborn way, I couldn’t help but think about how meaningful it is for families to be surrounded by such intentional care. His story began with love, resilience, and the unwavering support of skilled midwives. Now his first newborn portraits will forever reflect that same energy.

Congratulations to this beautiful family — and thank you, The Nest Midwives in Pullman, WA, for the incredible care you bring to families across Pullman, Moscow.
